# Retire a service safely

> End subscriptions and future appointments before removing booking or payment fields.

End every subscription and resolve future appointments before removing service fields. Deleting or trashing a form does not prove that Stripe stopped billing.

Maxforms enables Services for your workspace on request; there is no switch to turn it on yourself. If you do not see **Services** in the sidebar, [contact support](/services/what-is-services-mode#how-to-tell-whether-your-workspace-has-it).

1. Open **Services**.
2. Select **Subscriptions**.
3. Open each subscription connected to the service.
4. Use **Cancel now** for immediate retirement, or **Cancel at period end** when the current cycle should finish.
5. Wait until Stripe confirmation changes each subscription to Cancelled.
6. Review future one-time bookings under **Bookings**.
7. Contact affected customers about any booking that will not occur.
8. Remove the booking field only after every live dependency has ended.
9. Remove the payment field only after every live dependency has ended.

Immediate subscription cancellation removes remaining credits and cancels future active subscription bookings. Past bookings remain for your records.

Field deletion is blocked for active subscriptions and future active bookings. A paused or past-due subscription may not block deletion, so verify those states manually first.

Do not delete the form as a way to cancel provider billing. Maxforms can permit form deletion while Services records remain, and deletion does not end Stripe subscriptions.

## If a one-time future booking needs cancellation, then contact the customer or support

The owner booking list records attendance but does not provide a general cancellation control. Do not remove the form while that booking remains unresolved.

Cancellation and refunds remain separate. Issue any promised refund through the payment response or Stripe.
